L129A2 Reference Rifle

In 2009, Lewis Machine and Tool® collaborated with Law Enforcement International (LEI) to bring a weapon system to the UK Ministry of Defence that would add a significant force multiplier to their fighting forces. The MWS 7.62 rifle known as the L129A1 has served globally with distinction since then. Fast forward to 2025, the dynamics in combat and threat engagements have changed, the L129A2 answered the call.

At the core of the rifle, the monolithic upper (MRP-H), has remained true to form with an update to MLOK rail pattern and a lengthened forend to accommodate enhanced optic systems. The upper also saw a caliber change to 6.5 CM with an 18″ SS barrel. On the bottom half of the weapon, the MARS-H (Modular Ambidextrous Rifle System) has taken the role for base lower receiver. This lower now features the LMT DMR buttstock which is fully adjustable and removeable to a standard pattern AR stock without tools, as well as the patented AXLE two-stage trigger group. The whole rifle received a visual update with FDE NIR Cerakote.

In true LMT fashion, this is not just a reference rifle in form only. All function of the real L129A2 is retained and made available to the domestic market with the specific parts and assembly. Rifle pictured is shown with optional accessories that follow one of many potential configurations UK MOD may employ the L129A2 in. Accessories are not included with the rifle.
