During the MK24 (MRGG-A) program development for US SOCOM, LMT Defense® produced several variations of the MRP-H upper receiver. From the beginning of the program, a requirement was the addition of a forward assist like that commonly found on most 5.56 carbines. The use of the forward assist is commonly needed when returning a carrier group to battery after performing actions like a “press check” in adverse conditions. Other updates were made specific to the contract including additional weight reducing cuts.

The Rev2 follows the first iteration, which was just a model that featured a forward assist on the standard MLOK MRP-H upper receiver. Rev2 focused on versatility and capability. While the program called out M4 ergonomics, one question was barrel length. Did the user prefer a 14.5″ barrel or a system that more closely matched the OAL of an M4. Rev2 reduced the standard MRP-H rail length just enough to accept a shortened barrel. This is upper will pair well not only with the 14.5″ contract barrels, but with legacy 13.5″ 308 and 16″ piston barrels. It also features the removal of the forward QD points for greater use of accessories.

This is a limited run product and no others will be produced. Ships with the matching forward assist carrier body.
