BECAUSE FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION®
MRP/MWS locking screws use a T-30 head and should be torqued to 140 in/lbs for optimum performance. The LMT Torque Wrench is designed to this exact specification. Need a tutorial? Check out our video on YouTube!
There is no set barrel life or round count for our barrels. Heat is the enemy of steel. Depending on how hot you get your barrel, and for how long that temperature is sustained, can have great affect the life of a barrel. Barrel material like stainless steel and chromoly with a chrome lining are affected differently. The last factor that can affect barrel life is maintenance or care and bullet type. Maintaining your equipment is crucial to longevity, the bore of a rifle is no exception. Different types of bullets and jackets interact differently with the rifling, make sure to use proper maintenance for your particular ammo.
No, LMT barrels are not cold hammer forged. Commonly confused with CHF, is our cryogenic stress relieving process. This is done on all barrels, both chrome-moly and stainless.
Good news! You can shoot both NATO 762 and commercial grade 308 Win through your MWS rifle. The commercial spec ammo actually runs slightly higher pressures over the 7.62X51. However we build our barrels to withstand greater pressure than either calibers produce. However we do NOT recommend use of hand loaded ammo in either caliber.
MRP-L (5.56/.223) and MRP-H (7.62/.308) platforms are independent of one another. LMT barrels made for the monolithic platforms are proprietary. While all MRP-H barrels are compatible with that platform, the MRP-L hosts three upper receiver lengths, each with their own capabilities.
The LMT MWS is one of the leaders in the commercial AR-10 market. One big feature that sets our weapons apart is the ability to quickly change barrel types and calibers while maintaining less than 1 MOA shift. Typically, AR type weapons are plug and play thanks to the US DOD and industry standard of specifications. The “AR-10” family of rifle does not follow a specific industry standard. While our MWS is a true SR-25 pattern and will work with Knights Armament equipment, we highly suggest only using LMT certified parts to avoid any issues derived from a stack up of tolerances.
The LMT Enhanced BCG has many features to cure or improve common issues on the AR-15 type weapon system. See below the list of features and advantages to using the Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group.
LMT barrels are not normally rocksett or pinned and welded. But there are some exceptions.
Any barrel that has a SureFire muzzle device will be rocksett per SureFires instructions. This includes the New Zealand reference rifle.
Some rifle that have barrels shorter than 16” will come pinned and welded. This includes the R20 Rahe with a 14.3” barrel and the MARS-H Battle Rifle with a 13.5” barrel.
Yes. Enhanced bolts and enhanced carriers are compatible with each other and all mil spec bolts and carriers.
LMT MARS-L lowers come with all proprietary parts pre-installed and are compatible with all Mil spec lower components. The proprietary parts like the left side bolt catch can also be replaced with Mil spec in a pinch but you will lose the ambi function.
